OUR STORY
How it works
1. Our program is available to all elementary schools in Putnam County. There is poverty in all schools no matter the area in which they serve throughout the county. The school principals & counselors comprise a list of students in need.
2. Families that we service qualify for free or reduced-price lunches based on their income. Please note that incomes are annual family incomes before deductions.
3. Putnam Shoes For Children is confident they are reaching the neediest in the school system as we provide for the children enrolled in the CEP (Community Eligibility Program).
4. We serve all genders and ethnicity.
5. We strive to be discreet as possible and choose a time when children are in class & will not see us delivering the shoes. The children are given their new shoes along with a pair of new socks. We strive to make sure that if there are siblings, all children in that family within our grades receive shoes at the same time.
6. We never see the child receiving the shoes nor do they see us. The program is meant to be discreet so that other children do not know the children of need were given shoes by a charity.
7. We request that each child that receives a pair of new shoes/socks write a thank you letter. We mail the thank you letters to donors, so they know their money was used appropriately.
